FAQs
Here are some common questions about starting Hymn Lessons and how to continue on your journey as a musician.
Most musicians are ready to play hymns when they understand basic rhythms and note reading and have played for long enough that they have the coordination to play four notes at one time. My younger piano students are ready to start hymn lessons after three years of piano lessons. If a student begins lessons when they are eight they start Hymn Lessons when they are eleven. Older beginners might be ready to start even sooner. If you are an adult coming back to piano study after a time away, you may want to brush up on your basic notes and rhythms before you begin. There are lots of methods out there that can help you. My favorite method for brushing up on basic reading skills is The Mayron Cole Piano Method, which is also free and found here: https://www.freepianomethod.com/
